Padd already named
- iPad is amazingly close to the designation of the Padd on Star-Trek Next Generation, and almost identical in function to the functionality, that it boggles my mind. I have to wonder how soon the owners of the StarTrek franchise starts a lawsuit over the name. Think about it, both devices the real Apple iPad, and the device PADD on StarTrek, have the same functionality. The PADD on star trek is used to examine files on the Enterprises computer, while the iPad can see your desktop info as well as the world wide web, giving the PADD and iPad the same functionality, and the name is so close that it makes me think that Apple "borrowed" the name from the TV show in order to draw a comparison. Motorola did the same with their initial flip-phone, the "Star-Tac", sounding amazingly like StarTrek.
