CopyTrans

I was over the hill frustrated by iTunes' lame ability to let me move the Playlist database from my old computer to my new W7/Lenovo. And on the old laptop I didn't have enough room to consolidate my librray as described on Apple's "help" page to transfer my old files from the incumbent C drive. The iTunes software is too lame to let you consolidate to/re-target to an external drive, so CopyTrans let me use my iPod HD to transfer the songs, mostly loaded from my CDs--not purchased, and the Playlist transferred totally seamlessly. The CopyTrans interface is a bit backwards as it says "backup" to send the new files to the new machine. (One would think that was the term to backup old files and then "restore" would be the next step.) So you want to install CopyTrans on the new machine, not the old one. It took 2 hours to transfer 75GB of files off my iPod to my new machine. Not as slow as this reviews indicates.
