The new iPod Shuffle is the 4th generation model. The new iPod Shuffle returns the Shuffle to the 2nd-generation model's roughly square size with buttons on the front. It replaces the retreating from the tiny 3rd generation model, which didn't have any controls on the face of the device and was instead controlled by a headphone remote.
