How To Reset/Restart a frozen iPod shuffle

If your iPod Shuffle isn't responding to clicks, it's probably frozen up. To fix this, you'll need to restart it. Luckily, resetting a frozen iPod Shuffle is pretty easy. Here’s how you do it.

This work for the:

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Less than 1 Minute

Here's How:

  1. Disconnect your iPod Shuffle from your computer.

  2. Find the switch on the back (first generation) or the top right (2nd-4th generation) and move it to the off position. You won't see any of the green strip when it's in the off position.

  3. For the 1st and 2nd generation Shuffle, wait five seconds. For the 3rd and 4th generation models, wait 10 seconds.

  4. On the 1st and 3rd generation Shuffle, move the switch back to play or shuffle. This will reveal the green strip.

    On the 2nd and 4th generation models, slide the power switch to on, revealing the green strip.
