You may have heard the term podcast - it's a pretty hot thing these days - but may not know what it means or how it relates to your iPod. Well, it's all pretty simple.
What is a Podcast?
A Podcast is an audio program, like a homemade radio show, that is made by someone and then posted to the Internet for you to download and listen to via iTunes or your iPod. Most of them are free for you to download and listen to. Pretty simple, right?
What are Podcasts About?
Almost anything, really. People make podcasts about any subject that they're passionate about - from sports to comic books, from literature to cars to movies. Some TV and radio shows even have podcasts of their latest episodes or as supplements to them.
Where do you find Podcasts?
You can find Podcasts all over the Internet - they're hosted at lots of websites and a quick search at any search engine will find you lots of links. The most popular directory of Podcasts, though, as at the iTunes Store.
You can get to this directory by:
- opening iTunes
- choosing "iTunes Store" in the left-hand menu
- choosing "Podcasts" in the left menu in the store
This is the iTunes Podcast Directory. Here you can search for podcasts based on topic, title, or browse selections made by Apple.
