Introduction to Making iPhone Ringtones with iFuntastic

At launch, the iPhone’s ringtones were limited only to the ones that came preloaded on it, despite the expectation of many observers that a music phone ought to be able to use the music stored on it as a ringtone.

Luckily, a program called iFuntastic has been released that will let you add your own custom ringtones, including those made from your iTunes music collection, to the iPhone.

This step-by-step guide will show you how to add custom iPhone ringtones.

REQUIRED
In order to add custom iPhone ringtones, you’ll need a Mac running an Intel processor, a copy of iFuntastic (free download iFuntastic), and an audio editing program (Garageband is a great tool for this that comes free with Intel Macs).

DISCLAIMER
Making these kinds of changes to your iPhone can damage it. If you make these changes, you’re taking a risk and taking the health of your iPhone into your own hands. About.com and iFuntastic aren’t responsible for the results. Before you start this project, sync your iPhone to back it up. Modifiying the iPhone may also cause problems with future iPhone software updates.
