Apple AirPort Express – The AirPort Express is a small WiFi access point made by Apple that enables music and device sharing over local wireless networks.
The device plugs into a wall electrical socket and can be connected to an existing wireless network as another device or can create the network by attaching it to a cable modem via Ethernet.
Once connected to the web (via either kind of network), the AirPort Express can connect to speakers or stereos through built-in audio jacks or to computer peripherals via its USB port.
The sharing of music over WiFi from iTunes is a core function of the AirPort Express, as is the wireless sharing of printers and other peripherals.
The AirPort Express connects to WiFi networks using the 802.11a/b/g/n protocols and works with both Macs and PCs.
Apple introduced the device in June 2004. It retails for US$99.
