This major revision to iTunes added support for new iPods, HD TV shows, and mostly importantly, iTunes Genius.
This version of iTunes was announced at the “Let’s Rock” media event.
Features Added:
- iTunes Genius
- The ability to have iTunes create playlists automatically of related music that Apple promises will sound great together
- The discovery of new music at the iTunes Store based on your preferences, buying habits, and those of other iTunes users.
- Made HD TV shows available for purchase through the iTunes Store (though not for playback on iOS devices yet)
- Support for second-generation iPod touch, updated iPod Classic, fourth-generation iPod nano
- Display of apps on summary page
- New visualizer, grid view for albums, and more granular podcast subscription options
