In many respects, the third generation iPod touch is very similar to the second-generation model. The key differences between the two are the faster performance and greater capacity sported by the third-generation model.
The dimensions and weight of the two models are identical: 4.3 x 2.4 x 0.33 inches and 4.05 ounces. Both offer a 3.5-inch multitouch screen, WiFi, and support for the App Store.
Apple claims a 36-hour battery life for audio playback and 6 hours for video.
New Features in the Third Generation iPod touch
The third-generation touch expands on the success the second-generation touch found among mobile gamers who enjoyed its combination of third-party titles from the App Store and innovative gameplay thanks to its trio of sensors and touchscreen. It adds the same processor as the iPhone 3GS, which gives it more horsepower to employ OpenGL, allowing it to deliver more complex, more appealing graphics to games.
The other major change is that the third-generation models come in 16GB, 32GB , and 64GB capacities, while the second generation topped out at 32GB.
Third Generation iPod touch Reviews
I haven’t yet had a chance to review the 3rd-generation iPod touch; I’ll update this page when I review the touch myself. In the meantime, if you have a 3rd generation iPod touch, add a review of your own or read what others have to say.
