In most cases, iPhone 3GS users don't want to fully turn their phones off when they're not using them. Instead, most of us usually just want to put the phone to sleep to conserve battery and prevent accidental calls. However, you might want to turn your phone off when it's got very low battery or in other situations. When you do want to turn off the iPhone 3GS, here's how:
- Hold down the hold button on the top right corner of the phone.
- After a few seconds, a slider will appear across the top of the screen that reads "slide to power off." If you want to turn your phone off, slide that bar to the right.
- If you don't want to turn it off, tap the "cancel" button at the bottom of the screen.
- If you choose to turn the phone off, the screen will go dark after a moment and the phone will be off.
- To turn the phone back on, simply hold down the hold button until the screen lights up and the Apple logo appears.
This process is related to the iPhone 3GS restart process.
