- Simple and easy to use
- Great weight loss tool
- Lots of graphs
Weightbot (US$1.99) is one of my favorite weight loss apps. Not only is it ridiculously easy to use, but it quickly shows you if your weight is trending up or down. It also automatically calculates your BMI.
An easy way to monitor your weight loss goals
If you want a super simple way to keep track of your weight, Weightbot is the iPhone app for you. The app is billed as a "weight-tracking robot," and it really does what it says.
The app is password-protected, which seems like overkill -- how many people are really sneaking onto your iPhone to see how much you weigh? -- but some dieters may appreciate that feature. When you launch the Weightbot app, enter your four-number password and you’ll see a large numerical display. Tap the blue numbers and slide the scale on the bottom of the screen until your weight is displayed. Tap the numbers again and your weight will be recorded for the day. Underneath your weight, you’ll see your BMI (Body Mass Index) in large, easy-to-read numbers.
If you rotate your iPhone clockwise, the Weightbot app displays your weight loss (or gain!) as a graph. Your target weight, which you can specify in the settings, is displayed as a red line, which makes it easy to see how far you have to go to reach your goal. You can also scroll back through previous months.
If you flip your iPhone in the opposite direction, you’ll see a bar graph that calculates how much weight you have lost to date. That app also displays how many pounds you have left to reach your goal.
The Bottom Line
I’ve deleted dozens (if not hundreds) of apps from my iPhone, but Weightbot is one app that has stuck around since my early iPhone days. It is so easy to use and offers a great interface for keeping tabs on your weight loss goals. I highly recommend it if you are hoping to lose a few pounds in the New Year. Overall rating: 5 stars out of 5.
