Air To-Do (US$1.99) is another option for keeping track of your to-do list. While it offers a very simple and straightforward interface, Air To-Do is a little too simple for my taste. I appreciate the many sharing options, but the app is missing some important features.

Straightforward or too simple?

Air To-Do’s interface is very simple, which is a plus for a list app. When the app is first launched, you’re greeted with a blank to-do list and a small ‘add’ icon. Simply tap the icon to add a new item to your to-do list. For each individual item, you can add a due date, set an alert, add a URL or photo, write a note, or tag a location.

Air To-Do also includes plenty of sharing options, including the ability to send items via email or text message. One thing I really like about the Air To-Do app is its integration with Facebook and Twitter. Frankly, I’m surprised Facebook and Twitter aren't included in more to-do list apps.

In the settings menu, you can backup your data, change the font or text size, and customize app badges. However, I was surprised that Air To-Do leaves out some pretty important features. For one, you can’t make multiple to-do lists (although you can add unlimited items to the main list), and the app doesn’t include any sorting or prioritizing function. In fact, you can’t reorder the items on your list or sort by due date, which is a real downside. This makes the app very unwieldy to use if you have a number of items to complete. I also like making separate to-do lists for different areas of my life -- work, home, shopping, etc.

The Bottom Line

Air To-Do is a very straightforward list app that would be a good choice for anyone who has just a few tasks to complete each day. However, the app is missing the functionality it needs to be a comprehensive solution for busy individuals. In fact, it feels like this should be a free app, especially compared to feature-rich productivity apps like Awesome Note. Overall rating: 3 stars out of 5.

What You’ll Need

The Air To-Do list app is compatible with the iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone. It requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
