- Packed with features
- Assign actions to each task
- Customized lists
- Many backup and sync options
- Slightly confusing at first
- More expensive than other list apps
2Do (US$6.99) isn’t the cheapest iPhone list app, but it is one of the most stylish. This feature-packed productivity app provides everything you need to manage your daily tasks. If your to-do list is out of control, the 2Do app is definitely worth a look.
Unique task actions
New users might be overwhelmed by the app at first, but 2Do includes a helpful tutorial on how to get started. It does take a few minutes to figure out how everything works, but it is worth investing the time.
Creating a new to-do list is pretty easy, and the app includes a variety of options for each task. I love that each item on 2Do has a corresponding action (if applicable). For example, say one of the items on your to-do list is to call your friend Henry. You can mark the item as a phone call, select Henry from your contacts list, and then call him directly from the app when the time comes. Other actions include SMS and email.
For each item on your 2Do list, you can also add notes, set a due date, tag a location, schedule an alarm, and tack on a URL or photo. You can even make an audio recording with voice notes. I like that you can set a priority for each task, including low, medium, high, or starred. Unlike the Air To-Do app, each list is sortable by a number of criteria, including priority and due date.
Tab system keeps your lists organized
The tab system along the left-hand side of the app is useful for keeping your lists organized. You can toggle between various lists, and red badges appear when you have outstanding items. You can also create custom lists (2Do refers to them as calendars) for specific items, such as school, work, home, etc. Password protection for individual to-do lists is another plus.
2Do is even more useful because it syncs with a variety of programs, including Outlook and MobileMe (for an additional one-time fee of $2.99). I also like that you can customize a variety of sync options, including either sync on exit or sync on launch. Some other iPhone list apps require you to manually sync each time you make a change, and this is certainly more convenient. You can also backup your data to email or a separate computer. Twitter sharing is another option, but Facebook isn’t included.
The settings menu is incredibly comprehensive and includes everything from syncing options to interface changes. In fact, 2Do offers more customization than any other iPhone list app I’ve reviewed. Some users may be overwhelmed by all these options. If you think that might be a problem for you, check out the free Wunderlist app, which is simple and easy to use.
The Bottom Line
Some people may balk at the price tag, but the 2Do iPhone app is worth the money if you are serious about your to-do list. This app can do pretty much everything except make you coffee, and the feature list is very impressive. Be sure to check out the helpful tutorials to make sure you are getting everything out of this app. Overall rating: 5 stars out of 5.
