Guide Review - Hard Candy Cases Squish Skin iPad Case Review
You won't find many - if any - iPad cases that look like Hard Candy Cases' Squish Skin. But the features that give this iPad case its distinctive look also make it a good bet for keeping your iPad safe and secure.
The Squish Skin certainly lives up to its name. The soft, squishy case is made from silicone. In a novel twist, though, Hard Candy Cases didn't make the silicone the same thickness all the way around the case. Instead, areas likely to be damaged in a fall - the corners, the sides - have thicker silicone around them, providing greater protection.
That protection is enhanced, according to Hard Candy Cases, by the inclusion of pockets of air between the case and the iPad. The pockets are most evident at the places where the silicone is thickest.
I'm hesitant to do much dropping of my iPad, but the protection offered here seems very good, perhaps great.
Besides being engineered for protection, the case also makes it easy to get to the buttons and hardware features of the iPad, including the dock connector. When compared to how hard those items are to reach on some cases, this is much appreciated.
The case feels a bit slippery when held in one hand. Not so much that the iPad is at immediate risk of falling, but it's something you'll want to keep an eye on.
Don't let the Squish Skin's looks fool you: this case is a real contender for best iPad case (as of July 2010).
