This is Apple's 4th-generation iPod Shuffle. This front and side view labels each of the hardware features explained below. Use the image and explanation to orient yourself to the Shuffle when reading about how to use it.

  1. Headphone Jack- In addition to plugging in headphones here, this is where the Shuffle's USB cable plugs in for charging and syncing the Shuffle.
  2. Status Light - This light indicates battery and charging levels.
  3. VoiceOver button - Hold this button down to activate VoiceOver to hear what song is playing, the battery charge level, and more.
  4. Shuffle/On/Off button - Shuffle songs, play them in order, or turn the Shuffle off with this button.
  5. Clip - Clip the Shuffle to your clothes and make it portable without needing a case.
  6. Controls - Play, pause, and skip forward and backward with these buttons. They also include the volume buttons at the top and bottom.
