Unlike the iPhones in some other European countries, French iPhones are not exclusively tied to Orange Telecom, Apple’s partner in launching the iPhone there. French law requires that cell phones be available in an unlocked state, that is, available for use on other carriers. The law requires free unlocking after 6 months and unlocking for a fee before that.
Still, Orange is the official iPhone carrier in France, so here is a look at their rate plans for individuals.
All Orange iPhones have 24-month contracts. For a 12-month contract, customers pay an extra €4.50/month.
