Looking at it head on, the 5th generation iPod nano looks nearly identical to its 4th generation predecessor, but flip it over and, when you see the lens of a camera and a pinhole mic, you start to get a sense that this is a different iPod indeed.

The 4th-generation iPod nano returns the nano to its roots – it’s once again a tall, narrow iPod. The 3rd-generation model was a radical departure for the nano line, with its squat size and square screen, but the 4th-generation model is tall, with a rectangular screen and some exciting new features.

When Apple releases new iPod models, sometimes all they change is how much storage the model offers. Other times, all they change is everything. With the third-generation iPod nano, Apple changed everything and it’s a welcome change.
