Single of the Week Review: Auld Lang Syne, by Jack Ingram

By Sam Costello, About.com

Auld Lang Syne
By Jack Lang
From the Album: N/A, single
Free Week of: Dec 31

Keeping with the holiday theme, the free iTunes Download of the week is a version of the New Year’s Eve standard Auld Lang Syne by mainstream country singer Jack Ingram.

The most interesting thing about the song, to me, is finding out that Auld Lang Syne has so many verses. Who knew?

Ingram’s version here is a perfectly acceptable rendition of the song, but it’s hard to see the replay value of the song unless you’re a big Jack Ingram fan. It just seems hard to believe that there are a lot of people who want to hear this song regularly, or even for more than the minute or two when the ball drops and the confetti falls? This just doesn’t seem like a song that you’d listen to more than once a year, if that.

And a little bugaboo: The title of the song in iTunes is “Auld Lang Syne (acoustic).” For an acoustic song, there sure is a lot of electric guitar on this song.

Will be enjoyed by: Jack Ingram fans, fans of New Year’s music (all three of you)

Worth the Download: Eh.
