The third generation iPod Shuffle doesn’t have any controls on the device itself. Instead, the iPod is controlled using a remote control on the included Apple headphones.
But, if the controls are on the included headphones, does that mean you can’t use your own headphones with the third-generation iPod Shuffle?
Not exactly. You can use your own headphones with the iPod, but doing so requires the purchase of an adapter that includes the controls. Adapters are available from a number of iPod accessory makers and add to the overall cost of the Shuffle.
