The AppleTV is Apple’s first set-top box that allows users to play the contents of their iTunes libraries on their TVs and through their home entertainment systems. The device uses a WiFi connection to sync with a computer’s iTunes library and then can stream contents to its 40GB or 160GB hard drive. It also supports purchase and download of movies and TV from the iTunes Store.

The AppleTV Take 2 is Apple’s substantially upgraded version of the AppleTV. One of the key upgrades of this version of the device is support for iTunes Movie Rentals, including high-definition rentals. There is no hardware change in AppleTV Take 2 – all the changes were made in the software that runs the device.
