Apple TV Take 2 - Apple TV Take 2 is the name given to the set of feature upgrades to the Apple TV that add video rentals, HD video rentals, and computer-free operation to the Apple TV set-top box.
Apple TV Take 2 was introduced at Macworld Expo 2008 after a year in which the Apple TV was criticized as a failure due to its lack of HD content (the device is designed to work with HDTVs), small selection of items for purchase, and its being tied to a desktop computer to deliver content. The Take 2 software update addressed most of these issues.
