How to Use the iPhone as a Flashlight

You always have a flashlight in your pocket when you have an iPhone

Stuck in the dark and need a light? As long as you have your phone, you're fine. The camera flash on the back of your iPhone can be used as a flashlight.

Normally the flash appears only for a short time when taking photos or when you have a notification, but with the built-in flashlight tool, you can keep the flash on until you shut it off. The iPhone flashlight is built-in and accessible through Control Center. There are also third-party apps that add other options to the iPhone flashlight, like strobing.

The iPhone flashlight functionality is available on iOS 7 and higher. This article refers to iOS 12 and up.

To turn on the iPhone flashlight, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Center. On the iPhone X and newer, do this by swiping down from the top right corner. On older models, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
