Caller ID Ringtones (US$0.99) is an excellent ringtone app with a twist. Instead of creating ringtones from your music, this app includes thousands of names and relationships so you can hear exactly who is calling.

Great ringtone selection
Caller ID Ringtones includes more than 2,000 ringtones that will announce who is calling you, including both actual names and relationships. Names are sorted alphabetically, and I was pretty impressed with the selection. The app includes a ton of obscure names, and I was able to find every name I searched for except for Isla.
For relationships, Caller ID Ringtones includes everything from "booty call" to "grandmother." You should have no problem finding an appropriate label for everyone in your phonebook. Most ringtones come in several different voice types. I particularly like the butler (maybe because I’m a sucker for British accents), but you can also choose from a hip/hop style, movie announcer, or a basic, work-appropriate voice announcement.
Caller ID Ringtones includes a preview of each ringtone. Once you find one you like, enter your email address to receive the ringtone and download instructions. Like most ringtone apps, you will need to download the ringtone to your computer, transfer it to iTunes, and then sync your iPhone. (Read our how-to tutorial for more on this process.)
I received the emails right away and had no trouble transferring the ringtones to iTunes. It would be awesome if you could add new ringtones without connecting your iPhone to a computer, but I have yet to find a ringtone app that has eliminated that process.
The Bottom Line
I have no complaints with the Caller ID Ringtones app. The app includes a wide selection of names and relationships, and it is very easy to use. In fact, once you download the app, you can start updating your ringtones within minutes. I also like that your ringtones can be playful or more work-appropriate. Overall rating: 5 stars out of 5.
