The iPhone's camera is really nice. The pictures that it takes are lovely — bright, clear, great colors, and no pixelization. Hard to ask for more from a phone camera.
One of the interesting things I’ve noticed, though, is that the iPhone camera is the only feature of the phone that doesn’t sync completely using iTunes. Photos from your computer can be put onto the iPhone using iTunes, but photos can’t be taken off the phone with it. Instead, they have to be transferred using desktop photo management programs.
On the Mac, the iPhoto program treats the iPhone like any other digital camera that it can pull photos from. I suspect it works the same way with the many Windows photo management programs.
I don’t have any problem with this, really. It’s just interesting to note.
Otherwise, the camera program is fairly basic. It takes and stores photos. It has a slideshow.
It does have one really nice touch, though: a beautiful animation when you email photos. Select a photo and then choose to email it and the selected photo pops up, the email appears beneath it, and then the photo gets deposited onto it. Lovely.
