It’s really disappointing to see that AT&T doesn’t let many current customers upgrade phones without having to pay at least double the advertised price of $199, and they certainly don’t take any pains to let you know this will happen when you first sign up with them.
If they’re trying to save costs on the actual price of a phone, then they should offer customers the ability to sign on to a longer contract in exchange for not having to pay so much for a newer phone.
Smartphones are imperfect devices and prone to damage and glitches — I either have to cough up money for a better working phone, or risk not being able to make a phone call when I really need to, because my phone keeps crapping out on me.
