- The next iPhone is expected to debut about a month from now. Rumors have it that pre-orders will begin then, with a release date projected for Sept. 21.

- In legal news, Apple is pushing for a trial in the Dept. of Justice's ebook price-fixing suit. Apple has called the DoJ's proposed settlement "fundamentally unfair, unlawful, and unprecedented."
- In the Apple v. Samsung patent infringement trial, the judge has urged both companies to engage in settlement talks, saying a jury finding in the case contains "risk for both sides."
- Here's a new tack in Apple's approach to the TV market: it is reportedly in talks with cable companies to allow customers to use the existing Apple TV set-top box as a cable box. Interesting.
