- 2003 - That was the year that Apple introduced the iTunes Store. Nearly 10 years later, according to Bloomberg, the company is readying a major overhaul of the software that will integrate iCloud more tightly and expanded social/content discovery features.
- 150/250 - In the five years since the iPhone debuted, it's generated US$150 billion in revenue, on sales of 250 million phones worldwide. Remember when people thought the iPhone would be a failure?
- 30 - The amount of money, in millions, generated by Infinity Blade, the hit iOS game. The series has generated more profit for its developers, Epic Games, than the company's hit console franchise Gears of War.
- 2 - Spotify's position on the list of top sources of revenue to the major music labels, according to a new report. While iTunes is still #1 by a wide margin, that Spotify has hit #2 after such a short time in the U.S. (though it was available internationally for years) is impressive.
- 1 - The number of brand new apps Apple released this week. The new app, Podcasts, breaks out podcast discovery and playback features into their own location (after having been part of the iTunes Store and Music apps). This could be in keeping with Apple's long-rumored plan to stop making iTunes the single source of media on the Mac/iOS, instead breaking it into separate, focused tools.
