As expected, Verizon today announced that it will begin taking pre-order for the iPhone on Feb. 3. It will offer an iPhone 4 nearly identical to the one sold by AT&T (the major difference being the chips that make it compatible with Verizon's network), with the 16GB model priced $199 and the 32GB model at $299.
Verizon customers buying the iPhone 4 will also receive a mobile WiFi hotspot app with their purchase.
On Feb. 3, existing Verizon customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 4. On February 10, the phone will go on sale, with all customers able to buy it via Verizon's website and stores, as well as Apple Stores.
As with other Verizon phones, you can't talk and use data at the same time. This is a major strike against the Verizon iPhone in my book.
At that seems to be it for the announcement. I'll have more coverage, and details for switchers and upgraders, throughout the day.
