The weeks and months leading up to today's announcement of the iPad were filled with speculation - some of it reasonable, some of it wild. The last few days especially saw frenzied rumor-mongering, including intentional misdirection by some. In the spirit of following up on some of the more widespread rumors, here's a list of things that some expected to happen today that didn't:
- An announced deal with McGraw Hill - could this have to do with an executive revealing details of the tablet on TV last night? I wouldn't be surprised.
- Any deals with magazines to sell their content on the tablet. But I bet they're coming.
- Verizon providing 3G data services
- A surprise 4th-generation iPhone that works on the Verizon network
- A video camera and the ability to video conference
- Facial recognition
- The ability to run multiple apps at once
What were some of the other rumors you were hoping would come true but didn't?
