Where is Apple's Headphone Adapter?

Tuesday July 14, 2009

Back in March when Apple announced the third-generation iPod shuffle - which has no buttons and can only be controlled by a remote built into the headphone cord - the company said an adapter for third-party headphones was forthcoming. That was nearly 4 months ago and, as far as I can tell (and folks, please correct me if I'm wrong), there's no sign of the adapter.

This is an even more pressing question after the release of the iPhone 3GS, which uses a similar headphone and mic combo for calls, Voice Control, Voice Memos, and other functions.

It seems like offering this adapter shouldn't be too hard. So where is it?
