Apple Talking iPhone with Verizon?
One of the big complaints about the iPhone when it was first announced was its being tied exclusively to AT&T in the U.S. Come 2010, if reports are to be believed, that complaints may be eliminated.
According to a report in USA Today, Apple has been in high-level talks with Verizon about bringing the iPhone to that carrier come 2010. It's unclear yet as to whether this would be a new iPhone, or an offshoot of the existing one, given that the deal with AT&T runs through 2010. Reportedly the talks have been ongoing for months.
I was not thrilled about moving to AT&T when the iPhone came out, but other than an initial hiccup at launch, I've had no problems. I'd be curious to hear in comments from two groups:
- Folks who switched to AT&T: What's your experience been like and would you consider moving to Verizon to follow the iPhone?
- AT&T Haters: Would you be likely to buy an iPhone from Verizon, if you refused to get one from AT&T?

I am a verizon customer and an AT&T hater and I would have to say that I would absolutely buy the iPhone if it came to verizon! I have had the iPod touch, which is basically the same as an iPhone without the calling capabilities, and I love it. If the iPhone would come to verizon then I am pretty sure that AT&T would go down the tubes!
I am a current owner of the iPhone 3g. We actually just recently moved to at&t because there was a problem on the bill, and the customer service was horrid. When we switched to at&t, we decided to give the iPhone a try. I absolutly love this phone. But i know for a fact that i would not follow it to verizon because of past experince.
My past experience with ATT was negative to say the least… numerous billing problems, terrible customer service and that same old phone monopoly vibe “we don’t care and we don’t have to we’re the phone company”!
I have avoided the Iphone simply because I found ATT to be so poorly run a company. Verizon on the other hand has given me excellent customer service the few times I have had a need to contact them!
