Apple Releases iPhone Software 2.2
Apple has released iPhone Software 2.2, a free update to the software that runs the phone, that adds a host of new features including:
- Google Street View, and walking and public transit directions
- Direct downloads of podcasts to the iPhone, rather than through iTunes
- Bug fixes, fewer dropped calls, improvements to Mail
- The ability to turn off automatic text corrections
- and more
The software is available as a free download through the Software Update feature of iTunes. Speaking of which, iTunes was also updated to version 8.0.2 to deal with the iPhone update.
IPod touch users might be annoyed to find that once again they're getting the slightly short end of the stick - they don't get Street View, walking directions, or driving directions. Maybe that's because there's no GPS in those devices?
