Apple came with the news yesterday that the iPhone 3G is a big hit - big to the tune of 1 million phones sold in just three days. By way of comparison, estimates were that on launch weekend last year, the original iPhone sold about 270,000 phones. Whether it was the lower price (remember, the first iPhone's entry price was $499, as opposed to $199 for the new one) or the improved feature set, it looks like people are going to be snatching up iPhone 3Gs as fast as Apple can pump them out for a while.
By way of comparison, the company needed 70+ days to sell the 1 millionth iPhone last year.
