Teens Drive iPhone Sales
Despite iPod and iTunes sales flattening out, iPhone sales are growing among teens, according to a survey from Piper Jaffray.
In the most recent survey, 6% of teens owned iPhones, double the number who owned Apple devices a year before. Nine percent expected to buy an iPhone in the next six months.
The trend is only good for Apple. With iPod shipments expected to decline for the first time ever this year, the company needs to find a new growth source and the iPhone, priced higher than most iPods, seems like it will be that source.
