Nike+ Coming to iPhone

Monday April 14, 2008

The Nike+ iPod-integrated exercise system is coming to the iPhone. The device, an oler version of which includes a wireless transmitter that integrates with Nike shoes and the iPod nano, tracks workouts and allows you to upload workout information to a workout website.

A recent version of the system had bypassed the iPod, leading to speculation that there was a rift between the companies, but this announcement shows that Nike is committed to the iPod.

In the new version of the system, the Nike+ kit will connect to the iPhone and iPod touch via 3G and WiFi. The downside of this, of course, is that the nano is a much smaller, lighter device than either of those. Still, the possibility of better wireless connections is interesting. No word yet on when the new device is coming.
