iTunes is #2 Music Retailer, Could Become #1 This Year
Thursday February 28, 2008
The dominance that iTunes enjoys in the U.S. music retail space will only continue to grow, according to two new reports released this week. First, market-research firm NPD Group said this week that iTunes is now the second-largest music retailer in the country, trailing only Wal-Mart. A day later, NPD issued another report predicting that Apple would take the top spot sometime in 2008 due to a decline in CD sales and continued growth in downloads.
