In this season of giving, two stories of free iPods come to us:
- In a nice turn, Apple is giving over 100 free iPod nanos to kids whose families lost their homes in the recent California wildfires. The nanos will go to kids in Poway, CA., after the husband of a local councilwoman wrote to Steve Jobs in an effort to get donations for the area's teens. Not really a consolation for losing your home, of course, but Apple's doing something that's in their control and it's a good thing.
- On the other coast, the NYPD is giving new recruits iPods stuffed with academy course material to help them learn the law. Interesting.
