iPhone Named Invention of the Year by Time

They like it, they really like it! Time has named the iPhone its invention of the year. Its reasons:

• "The iPhone is pretty"
• "Its touchy feely"
• "It will make other phones better"
• "It's not a phone, it's a platform"
• "It is but the ghost of iPhones yet to come"

All reasonable, I guess, though its led to some consternation among commentators. The reaction is probably best summed up by Tom Krazit, currently of News.com and a former colleague of mine, who points out that while the iPhone is really cool and a great technology product, it might not be the most important invention in any area of the how world in the last year.
