Apple Denying Instore Service on iPhones, Fixing Them on the Sly?

Sunday September 30, 2007

ILounge has a photo of a statement posted in Apple Stores stating the company's policy on iPhones that have been hacked, unclocked, or messed up due to the latest iPhone software update. The bottom line: You're out of luck. Hacked iPhones are out of warranty and we're not fixing them.

And yet, TUAW reports that some Apple Geniuses - the front-line tech support staff in Apple Stores - are taking non-functioning iPhones in the back and returning with working units. I wonder if this is happening at all stores or is the result of some large-hearted techs?
