Amazon Launches DRM-Free Music Download Store
You can now add a third major online store selling music that works with iPods: Amazon.com. Amazon announced yesterday that it will be unveiling an online music store that sells DRM-free MP3s as digital downloads.
The store will launch later in 2007 with "millions of songs in the DRM-free MP3 format from more than 12,000 record labels," according to the company's press release. The anchor record label will be EMI, who recently went DRM-free (first with iTunes, then elsewhere).
Details are pretty thin on the ground otherwise. I'll keep on this and update you as more news comes out.
