Disney Sells a Lot of Movies/TV at iTunes
Saturday May 12, 2007
According to comments made by Disney CEO Robert Iger on the company's quarterly earnings conference call, Disney has sold 23.7 million TV episodes and 2 million movies through the iTunes Store since the company started putting its content there in 2006. If we assume the standard $1.99/episode and $9.99/movie pricing, that means Disney has made more than $60 million from the iTunes Store in less than two years. Here's hoping that those kinds of numbers convince other content owners to bring movies and TV shows to iTunes to give us more options. (Note: Steve Jobs is on Disney's board and is its single largest individual shareholder.)
